small white circles on my reef glass – Small White Circles on My Reef Glass: Preventing Ich.

Some people complained about “small white circles on my reef glass”. What is it? Well, we commonly call it itch and it is one of the most common diseases when it comes to fish. The good news is that this disease can be prevented and curable as well. Some methods are known to cure this condition so your fish will stay healthy without breaking your aquarium.

The life cycle

Ich is a parasite that has become the main reason oh “small white circles on my reef glass”. It goes through three developmental stages and each stage could cause damages to your fish in the aquarium. The worst scenario is death to your fish. Each stage also provides and supports other stages to grow and reach its maximum size or age.

Treatment of ich

Before the parasite reaches the aquarium glass, you may have seen some white spots on the skin of your fish. The spots can also be found on the fins of the infected fish. Once the parasite reaches a mature age, the reproduction may happen rapidly with water temperature between 22 and 25 degrees Celsius. This might be the first clue of how you can prevent or kill the growth of ich. Raising the water temperature to 30 degree Celsius would work great.

Prevention of ich

When it comes to prevention, you may control the infection in the first place. It is important to check if the aquarium is ready and healthy before you add the fish. Sometimes the stones and gravel could also be the media of the ich to move from one place to another.

Make sure you have washed the stones and gravel completely and air-dry the whole parts before you put it inside the aquarium. This is how you fix “small white circles on my reef glass”.
